Broadband or Mobile Contract Ending? What to Do Next
When a broadband or mobile contract ends you can usually switch without early termination charges. Broadband switches are led by your new provider through One Touch Switch. For mobile, text INFO to 85075 to check your contract, then PAC to 65075 to keep your number or STAC to 75075 to get a new one. Those steps come from Ofcom. You can also request a free Utility Warehouse comparison when you enter the free £20,000 cash prize draw.
Last checked against the official terms: 26 October 2026.
Part of Free Household Bill Comparison: How the UW Comparison Works.
Step one: check where you are in the contract
Your provider's app, website or end of contract emails will show your minimum term end date. For mobile, Ofcom suggests texting INFO to 85075. If you leave before the end you may have to pay early termination charges, so check first.
Switching broadband
Ofcom's One Touch Switch process means you only deal with the provider you are moving to. They ask for your address, current provider and the services you want to switch. Your current provider then sends you important information, including any charges. If the new provider uses a different network, they should tell you whether you need an engineer visit or a new router.
- Check what happens to any email address your old provider gave you.
- Check whether your phone line or TV is part of the same bundle.
- If you receive Universal Credit, Pension Credit or certain other benefits, ask about social tariffs.

Switching mobile
Ofcom's Text to Switch rules let you switch without speaking to your current provider. Text PAC to 65075 to keep your number, or STAC to 75075 for a new number, then give the code to your new provider. Ofcom says this avoids notice period charges and paying for two contracts at once.

Questions
How do I know if my mobile contract has ended?
Ofcom says you can text INFO to 85075 to check whether you are in or out of contract. Your provider's app or website will also show it.
Do I need to call my broadband provider to leave?
Usually not. With One Touch Switch you contact the provider you want to join and they manage the switch. Your old service should stop automatically once the new one works.
Can I keep my mobile number?
Yes. Text PAC to 65075 to get your switching code and give it to your new provider. Text STAC to 75075 if you want a new number instead.
